iExec website
Role: UX/UI Designer & Project Lead
WHY
The former website had many accessibility and security issues, as well as outdated branding and UI. These issues were hindering the company's evolution and causing usability problems, which required a full rebranding and re-implementation of the website.
HOW
To address the issues, I conducted thorough research through a visual benchmark, a moodboard and many usability tests. I had to work with several technical constraints, including using Wordpress and having no engineers available. This required me to become my own engineer, and later collaborate with a freelancer to complete more complex coding tasks. The process also involved working with the entire team, from CEO to Tech support, leading small workgroups, creating wireframes, mockups, and implementing them after testing with real users.
TAKEAWAYS
One of the key takeaways from this project was the importance of having a solid foundation for a company's vision and strategy. Without this, communication, marketing, and design efforts become much more difficult to lead, sometimes resulting in frustrating solutions. As a designer, the experience was humbling, as it helped identify the limits of my scope.
Additionally, the project highlighted the importance of having a fresh look through the collaboration with external marketing agencies, artists and engineers, in order to take the website and brand to the next level.
